Confreres from Cagayan district headed by the local Superior Fr. Bernard Teneza, SVD and the PHN JPIC Coordinator Fr. Gerardo Gudmalin, SVD attended a clergy discernment and meeting where the mining situation in Region II was discussed. The 5-day retreat was held in Betania Retreat House, Baguio City, last September 26-30 where 73 secular and religious priests altogether attended the said retreat. It was so far the biggest number of priests who joined the annual spiritual journey of the archdiocese. On September 3, 2011, 37 religious men and women from 17 congregations present and working in the Diocese of La Union gathered at the Carmelites convent in Pindangan, San Fernando, La Union.
